VLTOR's MUR-1A upper receivers are arguably the strongest and most dimensionally correct upper receivers on the market. MUR uppers are forged as opposed to lesser quality billet manufactured uppers. There are many factors that contribute to the MUR being a superior upper receiver. Although the MUR adheres to mil-spec, its walls are thicker than the standard receiver. The MUR manufacturing process starts with 7075 Aircraft-grade aluminum forging. During the forging process, the MUR is stress relieved, heat treated then subjected to VLTOR's proprietary cryogenic process. The result is a stronger, more rigid upper receiver which translates into a more accurate weapon.
