The JP Variable Mass Operating System Carrier is made to allow you to tune the mass of your operating system. This is a great feature if you have built a carbine around an exotic caliber or if you commonly shoot suppressed. The free floating variable mass weights add a dead blow hammer effect to your system, helping smooth out the recoil impulse and increasing its ability to operate through thick grime. This carrier, along with a Silent Captured Spring, allows you to tune your buffer system exactly how you need. Because of the many mass options you have, the reliability of your platform can be increased. The melonite treatment of the carrier vastly reduces friction, making for a smooth action and an easy to clean surface. If you have a forward assist on your rifle, this carrier has serrations for it. The back of the carrier also includes the M16 cut for binary and full auto triggers. We recommend using JP's Silent Captured Spring with this carrier, as the weight rings require the buffer detent to be eliminated or shaved down. A standard buffer will work, but it won't have anything holding it in when you disassemble.
